I am a professional and qualified person-centred counsellor, based in Ipswich, Suffolk. My practice provides a confidential and caring counselling service to adults and young people. I have successfully helped many people who have come to me with difficulties such as depression, anxiety and relationship problems.
I have a broad base of experience working with people from all age groups and backgrounds, having been involved for many years in community based healthcare, creative, educational and play projects and health and well-being research. My training in youth mentoring and forest school activities enhances my skills in working with children and young people.
What happens in counselling?
The main method of counselling that I use is called person-centred counselling.
During our counselling sessions I will listen to you and gain a clear picture of your difficulties and experience of life at the moment. I see you as the expert on your particular situation - however upset or worried you might feel at the time. As a counsellor I see my role as a companion, travelling alongside you and working with you to help you find your own particular way through your difficulties.
I will also try and bring my knowledge and experience to help you in a way that is respectful of you, your feelings and your values. I aim to help us build a relationship of trust that will enable us to work successfully together on the issues that concern you.
Counselling sessions for individuals usually last for 50 minutes. Couples and families sometimes prefer longer appointments. I offer daytime and evening appointments.
